At Middle Port Park in Oakland.  I was in the shadows, just above the rocks, sitting on a little concrete buttress that reinforced the walls for the Oakland to SF ferry -- southern mole, or something like that.  Built 1910.  They took the buildings out in '45.  The railroad tracks are still there, embedded in concrete as a reminder.
