Galen Rupp at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at Edwards' Stadium on April 23, 2010.  5,000 meter race that, if the conditons had been right, he was going after the American 5,000 meter record: 12:56, the splits of which I'm afraid to calculate.  4:08 miles - 3 in a row.  But it was windy, and he backed off and settled for a strong finish and a win.  A week later he clocked a 27:10 (10K) at the Stanford Invitational, behind Chris Solinsky, of Wisconsin, who finished in 26:59.  I read that Solinsky's last 800 was in 1:56.  Amazing.  Back in '89, for some perspective, Arturo Barrios, from the Districto Federal! (beautiful runner), set the word record at 27:08 in Berlin.
