July 4th, 2006 -- We worked in the backyard half the day. Me putting in cement posts with metal ties to hold 4 by 4s for an arbor, and Angelica laying bricks outside out backdoor. Then we went on a bike ride through the industrial area and to the marina. I always tell the kids to remember it before they bulldoze the old buildings -- steel fabrictors with sparks flying inside (still a few left) and the other remains and debris of a manufacturing economy. Of course they'll have to try to clean the PCPs and Chromium 6 out of the soil, which is probably why so much of it is left.

A couple of parrots at a popular little outdoor restaurant down at the highway and University. The kids love the salty clam chowder and bread bowl offering.

Berkeley Marina. A lot of it was a dump until they put dirt on top of it in the early 70s.

We went past the Berkeley Skate Park on the way home.
